Signs to look out for
Early breast cancer often causes no pain, which is why regular checks and knowing your normal matter so much. If you notice any of these signs, see a doctor without delay.
- A lump or thickening in the breast or under the arm
- A change in the size, shape or appearance of a breast
- Skin changes such as dimpling, redness or a texture like orange peel
- A change in how the nipple or the skin around it looks
- Unusual or bloody fluid from the nipple

Most breast lumps are not cancer, but every change deserves a check. Early diagnosis makes treatment far more successful.

Where to get checked in the UAE
Your family doctor or any government or private health centre can arrange a clinical breast exam or a mammogram. The Pink Caravan initiative by Friends of Cancer Patients also runs free breast cancer screenings across the emirates.
